Neuer Film für Vanessa

Ab Ende Mai heißt es für Vanessa höchstwahrscheinlich wieder "...und Aktion". Dann sollen nämlich die Dreharbeiten zu dem Drama "Gimme Shelter" in Connecticut starten. Mit dabei wird auch Brendan Fraser sein.

In dem Film wird es um ein schwangeres, obdachloses Mädchen (gespielt von Vanessa) gehen. Das Mädchen haut von ihrer gewalttätigen Mutter ab und macht sich auf die Suche nach ihrem leiblichen Vater. Dieser nimmt sie auch erst auf wirft sie aber wieder raus als sie sich weigert das Kind abzutreiben. Fraser wird den Vater dieses Mädchens spielen.

Vanessa Hudgens is in final negotiations to star in Gimme Shelter, an indie drama that will also star Brendan Fraser. Ron Krauss is writing and directing the pic, which is eyeing an end of May start in Connecticut.

The script centers on a pregnant, homeless teen, to be played by Hudgens, who flees her abusive mother and seeks out her biological father. He first takes her in but then throws her out when she refuses to abort her child. Fraser is the girl’s dad, who fathered her as a result of a youthful fling.

Producing are Kraus, Jeff Rice and Dama Claire.

Shelter continues Hudgens’ efforts to move beyond her past teen-queen image. She came into the public’s eye with Disney’s High School Musical movies before moving to Zack Snyder’s ensemble fantasy Sucker Punch, and she has New Line’s family adventure movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island opening in September. Shelter will be her first purely dramatic feature role.

Fraser, who coincidentally starred in the first Journey to the Center of the Earth film, was last seen in Furry Vengeance.

Hudgens is repped by CAA and Untitled. Fraser is repped by CAA and Brillstein.

Casting is for the lead role of Agnes ‘Apple’ Baily in the feature film “GIMME SHELTER.” “Gimme Shelter” will be directed by Ron Krauss and is Based on a True Story.
Filming will begin in Spring 2011

About the film:
This street-wise, 16 year old girl who calls herself Apple has never had an easy life. Her mother is a junkie and prostitute, is verbally and physically abusive, and is grooming her daughter to follow in her footsteps.
Apple knows the streets, alleys and motels like the back of her hand but wants more from her life. She possesses a tenacious, tough, indomitable spirit, and will not surrender to fate. Apple runs away from her mother and tracks down her father whom she has never known, as he was only 19 himself when he got Apple’s mother pregnant. Apple begs her now Wall Street Broker father to take her in. In the few days under her father’s care she learns she’s become pregnant by a kid from the streets she met on the train, who now wants nothing to do with her. She is forced to leave her father’s home because of her choice to give birth to the baby she carrying.
Apple runs away again, and is eventuallu taken under the wing of Father McCarthy, the chaplain of the local hospital after almost getting herself killed. He offers to let Apple live at a shelter for pregnant young women run by a spiritual woman named Kathy. It is here that Apple begins to tentatively interact with the other girls who are in the same predicament as she and gradually begins to make a family for herself.

The ex-disney cast is intentional and meant to attract the mainstream, but the writer and directing credit of Harmony means that it will be a film by him. This makes sense as most of Harmonys films are macabre drama comedies and so they'll need as much starpower and cutepower they can get to bring him into the mainstream. Mister Lonely although positive still has a grimness to it just under the surface. With Spring Breakers the premise is as dark as his low budget film 'Trash Humpers' about a group of sociapathic elderly citizens committing crimes and humping trashcans. Spring Breakers seems to be on the other side. Instead of 4 actors in elderly masks committing crime, he'll instead have 4 beautiful charismatic young women committing crime.

The cast is also subversive. Harmony is aware of the tween fanbase these three girls have as well as their images and he intends to blow that all away, tween girls beware!

Perhaps Franco hires these 4 girls to kill off his rival because they are the ultimate 'honey trap', due to being a group of beautiful young girls they can get into any drug dealers lair. It's exactly like in Despicable Me when Grue get's the cookie girls to sneak in his cookie robots. In that film there is an elder no nonsense leader, cute innocent girl and a tomboy. Since they were little girls they couldn't include the role of the seductress but it will be there in spring breakers.
From what we've read so far.
Selena is the cute innocent sweet one, this would fit her religious nature. (And this is clear if one watches the nuns of Mister Lonely) Selena is also the youngest actress.
Emma is the no nonsense smart one, this fits in with her age and limited range in acting too.
That leaves the role of the tomboy and seductress open. And I think it's clear that Vanessa is qualified for both, she appears to have nailed the tomboy type in Bandslam and Gimme Shelter, and of course being a seductress is easy for her.

So that makes me think they haven't decided which role Vanessa will take since she's good in both, so they are waiting to find the fourth actress before casting Vanessa in either.

Scott Steindorff’s newly founded Scott’s Pictures has notched its second film project after setting the Lynne Ramsay-directed Natalie Portman-starrer Jane Got A Gun, which has Michael Fassbender circling the male lead. Vanessa Hudgen stars in the company’s second film, Gimme Shelter, alongside Rosario Dawson, James Earl Jones, Ann Dowd, Stephanie Szostak and Brendan Fraser. The film, which just wrapped, is based on a true story about sixteen-year-old Agnes “Apple” Bailey (Hudgens), a teenager who runs away from her abusive mother in search of a biological father she has never met. When he proves a disappointment, she embarks on a desperate journey of survival and self discovery and bonds with the girls at a special teen shelter. The film is inspired by a David and Goliath true story of Kathy DiFiore’s longstanding Several Sources Shelters. She accompanied by Mother Teresa in an effort to change the shelter laws in New Jersey. The film was written and directed by Ronald Krauss, best known for videos and commercials and who financed and produced through his Day Twenty- Eight Films banner with Krauss, Jeff Rice and Joshua Amir. Stone Village’s Scott Steindorff is exec producer and Dylan Russell is co-producer. The film will be shown to domestic distributors later in the month.

“We are very passionate about Ronald and his vision for this heartfelt and inspirational story that will resonate with a broad audience. It will be a welcome addition to our roster of quality movies”, says Steindorff. Like Jane Got A Gun, this will be handled under the SPI label through Exclusive Media.
